Optimal Energy charts a course for how demand-side management could reduce San Antonio’s GHG emissions 11% by 2030

Optimal Energy worked with the Sierra Club to assess the past 10 years of demand-side management efforts from CPS Energy, San Antonio’s municipal electric and gas utility. CPS Energy’s performance lags behind other large municipal utilities in its peer group, like nearby Austin Energy, and the goal structure for CPS is in need of an overhaul. By adopting a more comprehensive goal structure, adding a gas savings target, and promoting new technologies, CPS Energy’s FlexSTEP program could reduce San Antonio’s GHG emissions by 11% by 2030.
